Pushing the clouds away

So I got up Tuesday morning (yesterday) and went for a soak in the Temple Gardens Spa. It is nice being a guest at the hotel because you almost have the place to yourself. At one point I did have the entire pool just to me and it felt a little creepy. The bad part is there is a walkway or skybridge directly from the hotel across the street to the pool. It is very convenient but my god Moose Jaw was cold this morning. It is supposed to be spring but it feels more like February. Still the pool was hot and felt very good. Even my arthritic finger enjoyed the soak.

After about an hour and a half I went back to the room and changed so I could go out for a pre-breakfast walk and pick up something small for us. My god Moose Jaw is cold today. Moose Jaw architecture is very interesting and puts you back in the 1920s. So that was cool. Then I went to safeway and stocked up on some fruit, milk and a treat for me and marla - Butter Tarts.

I got marla up and we went for a soak. This is what they call taking the waters and I quite enjoyed it.
We then got ready to face regina. We didn't get rained on very much. I can even see the winds pushing the clouds away. Once we got here we found a hotel. This time we went for cheap and ended up in a motel called Chateau Regina. It was quite, clean and cheap. Just what we needed.

We went out for lunch at Bonanza - it was okay but a little ew as well. Way too much food and way too expense. Its atmosphere matched the hotel.

Bonanza was pretty close to the Ride Store so we ventured into Taylor Field's Roughrider shop. $240 later we came out with t-shirts, sweaters, a tie, and many other trinkets. Oh and I got a new black hat to match my lost one but this one has a rider logo on it and costs twice as much.

We gathered up our courage and went over to see Marla's mom. Marla was outstanding. She was very strong and brave and did a fantastic job. I was very very proud of her. And later I told her I was proud too - shouldn't keep that kind of thing a secret.

Then we went to see my Mom. She is still in the Pasqua hospital. She was looking and sounding really good. Char and Danny were there and it was really nice to see them. We went over to Char's for supper and all was well with the world. The canucks won their playoff game and so they will be in the finals for the Stanley cup.

All in all it was a pretty good day.

Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head

Yesterday we left La Quinta in Great Falls and drove to Moose Jaw. I chose to drive up through Medicine Hat because many roads in Montana and North Dakota were washed out. So we stuck to the good roads. Unfortunately, we got lost in Shelby (just a little) and at the Canadian Boarder and GPS keep wanting us to go on these unpaved roads on old side short cuts.
We made really good time despite the rain. Sometimes it rained so hard there was no visabity at all and right away we had to slow the car down to 40km from 120.
We had lunch in Taber at the Smitty's. It was cool to visit a Smitty's again. Marla had a waffle and I went for soup d'mushroom.
We made one more stop in Swift Current for the manditory Dairy Queen stop. I like that they now have the mini size servings. Marla and I can split one and no go overboard like in the old days.
We go into Moose Jaw and setting into room 578 at the Temple Gardens Mineral spa. After a soak, appies for supper, losing $50 at the casino, we had a great day.

Today, we are off to Regina.

Roads, Ranges, and Rain

We stayed at the Coeur d'Alene Resort last night. A very nice place on the lake. It is one of those places that is part of the I Prefer network. So we got upgraded to a nicer room with a view of the boats and a bottle of champagne. Marla and I went out to the Outback for a split steak - yum. It was a good night despite the occasional chest pains. I have to tell dr. A. about that.

I was up at 6:30 and so went for a long walk - almost an hour and a half. I went all around the resort's boardwalk - very pretty. Then Marla and I hit the road. This time we drove towards Butte. I was concerned about going through a long stretch of pass, especially cause the weather was bad, so we kept to the interstate. But when we got to the Helena cut off we took it. Marla and I shared a loggers special lunch special at a tourist spot. Real good to $12.

We got into Great Falls at about 6pm and settled into La Quienta. Okay, not great, but will do for an overnight. The place is really busy because of a tournament in town. We went out for supper at Fuddruckers, really good. Really good. Then did some walmart shopping.

I nice day on some beautiful roads, crossing a couple mountain ranges, and a lot of driving in the rain. We even saw some lightening.

catching up and on the road

Well I should go back a week and say what I did. All of last week I was taking my first aid course and passed the exam on Sunday. This week I worked busily at work and prepping for our trip to Saskatchewan. I am looking forward to going back to the prairies. We are going to go through the states and then swoop up to Moose Jaw and a stay at Temple Gardens.

We caught the ferry at six pm and crossed down to the Border Crossing in Blaine. It was pretty nice and I will do that again. Then we stayed the night at the Skagit. Marla and I won about $75 playing the slots - cool. Saturday we drove through northern washington to Coeur d'Alene. Nice hotel with a bottle of champagne and a room upgrade. Good supper at Outback. We had lunch at the Olive Garden and learned a new trick - order a liguini with salad for marla and a single soup for me and split everything.

klutzy saturday

So here it was a Saturday - Gord, Chris, Precious and I did the Saturday walk. I started off by falling on my ass. Well a little slip on the grass and down I went. Personally I blame it on the silly sketcher's shoes. So the walk took the same amount of time, but sure felt like it took longer. It could also be that I am still stiff from Megan's workout on Thursday. And I could also be a little still from all the kneeling at the First Aid Course.

So after the walk Marla and I got all domestic and hauled a whole bunch of branches to the compost place in Saanich Yard. Then off to breakfast at de Dutch. Bleh. It was made a bit brighter because we went out to the Garden Shop and bought some ladybugs. We are on an aphid attack in the back yard.

Then we took off for Costco and got Marla some new tires for her car. then we came home but Marla wasn't feeling well. I think it is related to us going back to Regina. there is a lot of stress in that trip. I should study more for my test tomorrow. I am off to hit the books.

its been a long long time

Okay so its been a while since I wrote something here. So here I am writing a bit about what I have been up. First of all Marla and I took off for a conference in Oregon, then a holiday in Washington and after a week at work I went in for first aid training. I made a page to help me study http://www.wix.com/blakeblamar/chapt-1-2-notes - Hopefully it will do some good.

I took my OFA2 from Down's and Selan is terrific. I am a little nervous about the test on monday but we will see how that goes.
